How to Quickly Search for a Lost Pet

Look carefully around the spot where your pet disappeared, including under porches, behind shrubs, inside open garages, and anywhere they could have slipped in or become trapped. Call their name in a familiar, calm voice, then pause and listen; a frightened pet may stay quiet or move only after the area settles down.

Walk a short route around your home or the last sighting location rather than rushing from place to place, and look both at ground level and in places your pet might climb or hide. If someone can help, divide the nearby area into separate routes, keep your phones on, and agree on where you will meet so you do not repeatedly cover the same ground.
